Creating a Sequel

Great stories have long suffered when the repeat of the success was attempted. More often than not, the authors of a sequel regurgitate the previous story, rather than continue the story. Others use the same formula that the original was built upon, and they change the characters or location. Examples of this type of sequel are found in hundreds of examples, like Jaws, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, etc. It ends up to be the same movie with different characters interacting with the 'villian' in this case.

The great sequels, like Empire Strikes Back, or The Two Towers from Star Wars and The Lord of the Rings, continue along the time line from the first story. The same characters, who started a journey in the first 'episode' continue their adventure. In the case of Star Wars, Luke goes on to train with Yoda to be a Jedi. In the case of The Two Towers, Frodo and Sam continue to Mordor to drop the ring into the volcano.

The Sequel to Adventures in Raoolia, Adventures Beyond New Raoolia is more like Star Wars or The Lord of the Rings. It continues with Master RRandoll's quest to destroy the Tigrens and convert all the Carcalians into is Minotaur Army.
